Wadjemup, the island 19 km offshore, is the compulsory Perth day trip: no private cars, everything by bike, 63 beaches and bays, and the quokka — the most photogenic marsupial alive. Ferries leave from Fremantle, Hillarys or Elizabeth Quay.
