Joondalup
Perth's second city
- From the CBD
- 26 km
- Area
- 34 km²
- Rent
- Mid rent
- Suburbs
- 8
Joondalup was planned from scratch as the northern regional centre and is the closest thing to a second CBD: a university (ECU), a hospital, courts, the Lakeside mall and office blocks around a lake. Burns Beach and Iluka on the western edge are the beach-and-new-build side.
Good for
- Studying at ECU
- Construction and services work in the northern corridor
- City infrastructure away from downtown
Watch out
25 km from the city — if you work in the CBD it is close to an hour of train a day.
Getting around
Joondalup station on the Yanchep line, direct to the city.

These are impressions, not statistics: one person, a few months, a city of two million. Suburbs change street by street — use this to know what to go and look at, then go and look.
