Seventy kilometres south, Mandurah grew around its estuary and canals: houses with private jetties, dolphins in the water and a strong weekend scene. It is a holiday, second-home and retirement town — and it still has a direct train to Perth.
Good for
- A weekend out of the city
- A bigger house for far less
- Dolphins, fishing and boating
Watch out
70 km out: the train takes around 50 minutes and this cannot be treated as a Perth suburb.
Getting around
The Mandurah line to its terminus, about 50 minutes from the city.
