The northern coast is calmer than Scarborough and better organised: Hillarys Boat Harbour has the marina, restaurants, the AQWA aquarium and the Rottnest ferry. Mullaloo and Sorrento have sheltered beaches, lawns and public barbecues — this is the coast that works with small kids.
Good for
- Families who want the beach every weekend
- Calmer water for swimming
- The Rottnest ferry without going into the city
Watch out
Far from the city (about 20 km) and most jobs are on the other side of town.
Getting around
The Yanchep line runs inland (Whitfords, Greenwood); from the station to the beach is a bus or a car.
