The Scarborough foreshore was rebuilt and became the weekend gathering point: a public pool facing the ocean, a skate park, bars and restaurants on the sand. Trigg just north is the surf spot, and Mettams Pool is the natural rock pool where you snorkel with kids.

Watch out

Strong afternoon wind in summer (the "Fremantle Doctor") and gridlock on weekends.

Getting around
